Hi guys. I have a wrt54gl router. Today when i went to set it up i put a wep key on it wich works fine. However, when i went and added a router password to it it will not let me log in with the default user name wich i did not even see an option to change on the page. I tried using the dafault username with my new password and the old password and neither let me in.

1. leave user name blank and enter in pw
2. if that don't work, use admin as user, type in pw
3. reset router if all else fails :P

if via ethernet, then its easy
if wireless, use ethernet to log on to router and turn wireless on
remember to configure wireless pw,
change admin pw
are you forwarding ports, if so, you'll need to redo that too
basically, everything is set back to factory defaults

Brandon, when you reset the router you will have to reconfigure your isp information then you can connection. Usually for linksys it is admin and password but other combos include..

admin admin
user blank password admin
admin and no password
user blank and password password

mine is admin password. If you have to reset the router make sure you have your isp username and password on hand or ask your parrents for it..

good morning all. I have the same router and am haveing a different problem. I plug it in and have a hard line going from the modem to the router and then a line to the computer. It is not obtaiing an IP address from the internet. When I go to status the time is unavailable and the ip is 0.0.0.0. This router had worked once and unfortunately had to be reset because the password for the wifi was not known and i was unable to log in to the default ip of 192.168.1.1 so aparently it had been changed. What would cause a router not to obtain an ip adres? The client is using cable, the cable modem works when connected directly to to a desktop machine and internet is fine. I've only had this problem with linksys. I can log in and change settings and the connection is set to automatic dhcp which is correct for cable. Would cloning the mac adress correct this or is there something else I can look at? thanks.
